Description

After pickup from your Port of Spain hotel, take a short drive to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary, a 48-square-mile wetland featuring mangrove swamps and lagoons. Board a double kayak and paddle through the peaceful waterways guided by an expert.

Watch for Trinidad’s national bird, the bright red Scarlet Ibis, streaking across the sky. Paddle into an open lagoon to witness the Scarlet Ibis returning to their roosting trees at sunset, their dozens flying in a cloud of red against the evening sky.

Towards the end of the tour, join the main boat for the return trip to the base, as dusk settles over the wetlands.
