Description
Begin with hotel pickup followed by a guided tour of Port of Spain, showcasing historic downtown buildings and Queen’s Park Savannah, a 200-acre park surrounded by exotic trees and colonial mansions.
Drive along the North Coast Road, enjoying views of the Caribbean Sea. Stop to sample fresh pineapple chutney and sugarcane molasses candy. Continue to Maracas Bay, a sandy beach framed by mountainous rainforest and coconut trees, where you can walk, swim, or relax. Optional tasting of a crispy shark sandwich is available (not included).
The tour then proceeds with a cross-country drive to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary, a 48-square-mile wetland along Trinidad’s western coast. Board a flat-bottomed boat to explore mangrove-lined waterways and spot local wildlife including oysters, non-poisonous snakes, and native birds.
